Visit to aquarium.

Hi, my name is Isha and I am nine years old. I like animals, birds and fish. I am going to tell you about the time me and my family went to an aquarium last summer. There, we also saw a dolphin show! We saw seals and sharks too!

When we entered, we saw lots of interesting fish in small tanks. After a while, we had to go through a sort of a pipe. There were fish everywhere. A small card said we should see a stingray somewhere. We searched for it, but we could not find it. There were some awesome and cute fish here, too. One fish I remember seeing is a clown fish.

Then, we went to a dolphin show. The dolphins did a lot of interesting tricks. For every trick, the dolphins got a bunch of fish. The dolphins jumped over rings and touched high balls with their noses. They also danced on their tails alone! They came out of the water for a few seconds. One man swam in the water and let the dolphins pull him along. One dolphin twirled around gracefully in the water. Then it was over.

We then passed a tank full of bigger fish. There were sharks here. They looked dangerous, but they were not even chasing the other small fish which were in the same tank. Then we saw a really huge fish. He was even bigger than the sharks!

When we were going out, we caught a glimpse of some seals!

Finally, we went back home happily. And that is my brother ARJUN with me in the back seat. It's so much fun to be with him!

My Pony - Snowflake

Today, we are going to buy a pony! I have always wanted a pony. And this one is going to be my own pony! When we got into the car, I was feeling so exited, I wanted to take my brother's hand and dance around in joy! When we finally got there, I could hardly keep still.

We went inside and found it full of horses. There were big horses, little horses, fat ponies and tall stallions. But, I wanted to buy a pony. The man led us to the pony section. The colts and fillies were separated. I walked over to the fillies. I looked around and saw one that caught my attention. It was a beautiful white pony. She was looking at me like she was begging me to choose her. We stared at each other for about a minute. Then I rushed forward and threw my arms around her. My dad took the hint and asked, "How much is that pony?"

"That one?" the man asked, pointing to the white pony "that one is 900 dollars". My dad handed 900 dollars to the man and we took the pony home.

After we got home, I led the pony to her stable. But the pony just sat on the grass. I sat too. I just stared at the pony, trying to think of a good name for her. My brother, Arjun's hen waddled over to us with the paper Snowflake I'd made in her beak. I smiled and said," Oh, I know a good name for you! I will call you Snowflake!" I smiled as I brushed Snowflake's fur. Then I put on Snowflake's saddle and reins and was about to mount when I noticed for the first time that Snowflake seemed a bit worn out, like she had been overworked and not properly fed. I dropped the idea of a ride and let Snowflake rest. I went in our house and brought out a bucket of water, and set it down near Snowflake. Then I went back and got a basket full of apples. The day passed with Snowflake eating and resting, and me watching. When it was bed time, I tucked Snowflake into the stack of hay which was her bed. Then, my dad tucked me into my bed!

I woke up in the middle of the night. I heard voices; neighing, the stamping of hooves, footsteps and human voices. I got out of bed and went down. My heart nearly stopped. Snowflake's stable door was open. Two men were running around and trying to catch Snowflake, while she ran about dodging them. "Oh no!" I cried. I rushed forward and the men, seeing me, went after me too. One was chasing Snowflake, and the other was chasing me. I tried to get to Snowflake, but the men kept cutting me off. Then, I finally got to her! I mounted her and Snowflake galloped around the house, all the while dodging the two men. I saw my parents watching fearfully from their bedroom window. "Call the police!" I shouted up to them. They nodded and disappeared. The police came in 10 minutes. By that time, I had almost fainted. I did faint when the police came. When I recovered, I ran out to snowflake and hugged her. She had recovered from the shock and nuzzled my nose. We were so happy! No more people like the two men ever came to our house and we lived happily ever after.

The Canary

"I will meet you at the cabin, Rachel," Mary Said. She hung the phone. "Mom, can I go out?" she asked. "Sure", her mom said. She went out. Rachel and Mary were best friends and liked to be alone, but no one let them be alone. So, they went to the forest. They found a perfect clearing. It was quiet and nice. They built a cabin there. No one knew about it. That was their secret place. They met there when they wanted to discuss something. They also went to the same school.

Mary was carrying something. That something was what she wanted to show Rachel. When she reached the cabin, she saw that Rachel was already there. "Hi, what are you telling me?", Rachel asked. "Actually, I am showing you something, Mary said. "What are you showing me?" Rachel asked. Mary showed Rachel what was in her hand. It was a bright, yellow canary. Her wing was bent. "Oh, wow!", Rachel exclaimed. "Where did you find her?" "I found her in the park." said Mary. "Can we help her get better?" Rachel asked. "May be, yes, we can try." Mary said.

So they did. Every day they gave her grains to eat and took good care of her. Soon, she was well again. Rachel and Mary didn't know she was well until she flew over them at school. She perched on the playground. "Oh, wow!" the other kids exclaimed. They were having recess. The canary was frightened by the noise and fluttered to Mary's shoulder. Rachel gave her some grains which she ate from Rachel's hand. The other kids were jealous and said, "We found her first, give her to us!" "No, she is ours", said Mary. "Yes", said Rachel. They took her to class. She sat with them at the desks. She perched on Mary's desk. Occasionally, she would flutter over to Rachel's desk. She watched the teacher with interest and the teacher let her be there.

After the school was over, Mary and Rachel went to the cabin. The canary followed them. "You are well, can you stay with us?" Mary asked the canary. The canary tweeted as if saying, "of course!" "If you will stay, you will need a name", Rachel said. "What about… Cann?" Mary asked. "Good name!" Rachel replied. "It is getting late, we should go home", Mary said. They went home. Cann followed. "She is coming with us", Mary said. "Let her", said Rachel. "She will go back to the cabin or she will come home with one of us". Cann came with Mary. She went in Mary's house by the window. Mary went to her room and opened it. Cann came in. She stayed with Mary until morning. Then, she flew out and went to Rachel. Rachel wanted to go outside. Her mom said she could go. When she opened the door, she saw Cann. Cann was perched on the top of the stairs. Rachel and Cann went to the cabin. Mary was already there. They talked for a while. They were discussing whose house Cann would stay most of the time. They decided that one day Cann would stay at Mary's house and one day at Rachel's.

Not long after, Cann was acting strange. She only stayed at the cabin and did not come out. Mary and Rachel went in to see what the matter was. When they went in, they saw Cann sitting on a nest. A male canary sat by her. Cann greeted them with a 'tweet'. Rachel grimed and said, "She is really into breeding." "Let's call him Ary", Mary said. Then, Mary and Rachel spent every moment they had in the cabin. They wanted to be there when the eggs were layed and wanted to see them hatching.

One day, when they were at the cabin, Rachel said, "Look, what is that?" "An egg!", said Mary. They watched carefully. Soon, an egg came out. It went in the nest. Can layed more eggs. She layed three more! Four eggs together. Mary and Rachel raced home. They went to Rachel's house. They went to her computer. Rachel typed, "What do you feed baby canaries?" They read," Boiled or soaked canary seed." I have canary seed", Rachel said. "Let's get it," Mary replied. They got it and Rachel soaked it. She went to the cabin. Mary went to her house, sat on the computer and typed, "How long does it takes for canary eggs to hatch?" She read, "About two weeks". She ran to the cabin and saw Rachel feeding soaked canary seed to Cann. Cann seems exhausted. 'Lying must be a hard job', Mary Thought. As Rachel fed soaked seeds to the Cann, she seemed not so exhausted. Cann was just sitting on her nest. "Two weeks, then it will hatch," Mary said. "We will come back in two weeks". "If you need our help, send Ary to us and we will come", Rachel told Cann. Cann tweeted, as if saying, 'Sure!'

Two weeks later Rachel and Marry almost forgot all about the canaries. When they were at the park, Rachel saw a canary. "Look at that canary!" Rachel said. "It looks familiar", Mary said. They both looked at each other and said,"Ary!" They ran in the cabin and saw Cann with her new - hatched chicks. Then they saw a cat. She was trying to get to the nest! A chick fell. Rachel caught it and put it in its nest. Mary grabbed the cat and put it out.

The chicks grew quickly. Soon, they were old enough to fly, but they always came to visit Mary and Rachel. Cann and Ary went too, but always came back every year to lay eggs in the cabin.

My Pigeon,Puffer.

One day, we saw two pigeons on our A.C. vent. They made a nest. The mommy laid an egg. The egg hatched and a chick came out.

When we first saw it, it was very cute. It was about a week or so. It was kind of fat. It had tiny wings and a small head. It was sort of pink and had yellow hair all over its body.

One day it fell out of the nest and on to the ground. It hid in the bushes. We took it inside and set it free on the carpet. It was scared and puffed itself up to make it look bigger. We now touched it for the first time. It had grown fine flight feathers. But its head and neck were still covered with yellow hair. It was much cuter now. We think it is a boy and named him puffer.

A long time had passed and Puffer's mom and dad now only see him for a short time in the evening to feed him. They first eat the grains and then they take it out of their tummies and feed it to Puffer. Puffer eats the grains out of their beaks.

Puffer is very big now. His mom and dad try to teach him how to eat grains on his own. Puffer has not yet learned. They try real hard for 2-3 days but he just does not eat it and wants the food from them only.

Once, while they were trying to make him eat grains on his own, he ate one. He ate one but it was just the beginning and he did not eat more. May be he does not like raw grains and prefers them from his parents.

His parents also teach him how to drink water. They show it to him many times. The parents hope that Puffer will try to copy them.

Puffer thinks it is fun. So he decides to try it. He walks over to the bowl to try it.

He leaps on to the rim and stands there. But he loses his balance and falls in. He gets out again by jumping.

Puffer's parents also try to teach him how to fly. He flaps his wings but he cannot fly. One day he flew to the ladder outside. He flew on the first step and it was the beginning. Sure enough now we can't get him off the ladder. Now he can climb to the top of the ladder and just likes to watch the scene from there.

I love Puffer very much he is so cute. I am enjoying my life with Puffer and I want to keep him forever.

Letter to my cute birdie

To,Cutie,

The best birdie ever,

Heaven.

Dear Cutie,
I miss you so much! You are the best bird or even a pet ever! I still remember the day we bought you. It has been a bumpy ride, but you were the source of all happiness and joy on the way. I remember, we bought you because we felt like you were the best. You were just two months then, and so cute! When we got you, you bit us and we wanted to return you. When we went to return, you behaved so good, we couldn’t! Then, we built a nice perch for you to sit on! We put you in the guest room to sleep. Sometimes, we also took you up to sleep with us in our bedroom. Everyone loved you! You knew a lot! Step-up, head massage and good boy. Usually your cage was in the living room, but then we put it near the guest room. By then, your eating habits improved! You started eating fruits and vegetables too. We were both trusting each other and were good friends. You nibbled our fingers and my earring. You used to follow us along like a dog. We also started to plan which kind of mate to get you. Such long plans! That’s because you were so healthy! What could stop you from living long? Nothing!

Unless…… Then it happened. We used to hang your cage outside so you could get some sunlight and fresh air. For the first few times, all went well. Then one day, we kept you out, like always and when we came to get you, two hours later, it was disaster!

The cage was broken, and there were like millions of feathers everywhere. We searched for you a bit. Then we noticed there was blood everywhere. We knew for sure then that a cat had indeed eaten you up. I could not bear it any longer. I started to cry. I felt pain, loss. I felt like a part of me had died. I felt this empty hole that could be filled up only by you. I miss you. You were so young. It has been a bumpy ride with you. I love you. I will never forget you.

Love,
Isha.
