Three Brothers

Once, there were three little children. They used to live with their mother in the countryside. One day, their mom told them to go out and pick some blueberries. She gave each of them a basket and, while they were going, she told them to pick as many as they wanted.

The eldest child picked only little blueberries and spent the rest of the time playing. The second eldest child picked more blueberries than his brother, but ate most of it.

The youngest child worked slowly and steadily and chose only the good berries. He also did not eat any and filled his basket full. He also washed the berries by the stream. He washed each one of them carefully and then he went home. His brothers had already returned.

His mother was waiting for him and when she saw the blueberries, she told him that he was a good boy and she made blueberry jam and blueberry pie for him. His brothers did not get any, so they were sad, but the boy, being of a kind heart shared everything with them. The other two brothers realized their mistake and learned that they should always accomplish the task nicely and carefully.
